On January 2, 2009, Mr. Jim Webb, United States Senator from Virginia and a prominent member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, who was on a visit to Thailand as part of his regional trip, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya.
On 29 December 2008, Mr. Alberto Catmaitan Romulo, Foreign Minister of the Philippines, who was on his unofficial visit to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya to congratulate him on his assumption of office.
On 26 December 2008, Mr. Eric G. John, US Ambassador, Mr. Zhang Jiuhuan, Chinese Ambassador and, Mr. Kyoji Komachi, Japanese Ambassador to Thailand, paid their courtesy calls to congratulate Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya respectively upon his assumption of office. The new Foreign Minister stressed the importance of the Royal Thai Government’s policy, to be announced before the Parliament on 29-30 December, as a promise to serve the Thai people and “commitment to the international community at large.”
On 25 December 2008, Mr. Virasakdi Futrakul, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, welcomed Lao media delegation who is visiting Thailand under an exchange programme between Lao and Thai Journalists Association during 22 – 29 December 2008.
